🍁 Why Fall 2025 Is the Best Time to Visit Savannah

Like much of the country, fall is one of Savannah’s most magnetic seasons — a time when the breeze turns golden, historic homes show off with Halloween decorations, and the entire city seems to exhale into something cozy, cultural, and alive — all of which is made even more perfect in a 2-mile x 2-mile historic district that’s all walkable.

At Be Our Gaston, we’re not just hosts — we’re your trip planners, your vibe checkers, your "should I go in September or November?" advisors. And if you’re on the fence about when to visit Savannah, let me gently nudge you: fall is it. If I could handpick my perfect time to go, I’d say any week in October, the first two weeks of November, or the first two weeks of December (yes, that’s not a typo.)

🍂 What Makes Fall in Savannah So Special?

The Weather Is Practically Showing Off

We get just enough crisp in the air to feel festive — without giving up patio dining or beach walks. You can sip your morning coffee on a breezy porch and still spend the afternoon at Tybee with your feet in the ocean. Seriously. That’s a pretty special perk. Considering that Tybee is only a 20 minute drive, it’s an easy half- or full-day trip in addition to your time in the historic district.

Events, Everywhere

From big-name concerts and food festivals to dachshund races and candlelight orchestras, there’s something happening every weekend. It’s honestly hard to keep up — which is why we made this for you: Your Full Fall 2025 Events Guide ➝

Fall Is Outdoor Season in Savannah

This is the time to wander the Historic District, do one or two of our self-guided walking tours, and stumble onto local music in the park. The historic homes decor Halloween decor, the golden-hour light, the football jerseys at outdoor bars — perfection.

🍸 A Local Note:

There’s this perfect 6-week stretch in the fall where my husband and I sit outside with an Old-Fashioned (or, as my oldest son affectionately named it, an Old-Fast Man — since my husband makes them) and watch the city unfold. Neighbors are out, Halloween decorations get bolder by the day, and the energy is somehow chill and electric at the same time. Our house joins in the decor game — lots of 6 foot spiders crawl all over our 4-story brownstone.

Our tip: If you are visiting this fall, make sure you choose a place with a porch or balcony!

🧭 Planning Your Trip Around the Season

Whether you're a foodie, a music lover, or just someone who wants to walk a beautiful city without sweating through your shirt, fall gives you options.

This is our son, daughter-in-law, and their dog “Broughton” (yes, named after the street downtown), participating in Savannah’s Wag-o-Ween celebration in October.
